Here's one Taylor made for the Alaskan pistol grip Hawken- about identical to the original he copied.
80 TPI - the tap & die came North, courtesy of our own Robert Roller.

Good question, Percy. Seems to me, it was perfect for target work, but due to the design, easily increased as to the owner's desires.

I roughed one out today.....drilled an 1/8 hole....can’t wait to try it !  Maybe a 1/16 hole ..who knows. Might have to mig up the hole and redrill. I used some 12 guage flat stock.

You might want to chamfer the front edge of the hole, to skinny up the hole's depth (from the front).
This will sharpen the sight picture and reduce internal glare.
