BIG bore
« on: February 26, 2019, 07:14:56 PM »
I happened upon a Pedersoli Kodiak Safari Express .72 cal SXS rifle at the local pawn shop, well it followed me home. Anybody have any experience with one of these? Any tips tricks or advice?... (I already have a shoulder pad!),,,THANKS, Ed

I recently finished a .72 half stock on a Pete Allen action. Haven't fired it yet. I do have an extra .72 Tanner mold. You can have it for $60, shipped.

Longknife,
meant to say, I have a .72, the extra mold is a .710.

I have one and it is fun !  I will have to find my load data, but I recall using 120-150 gr FFG with .710 round ball.  you don't need a spotting scope to see the holes for sure !

here is an old link to somebody's videos of one of these:

I have a 4-bore.  The biggest improvement in shoot-ability is using 1F powder.  It cut recoil a bunch.  By contrast 350 grians of 3F gave me a mild concussion, with 1F it is no big deal.

LOL - I expect kicked, Scota.
You may consider your gun to have been "proofed" now.

You could also try those .690" hard balls, Ed, with about an 11 or 12 ounce Joanne's Fabrics denim.
They may shoot quite a big differently than the .715's- or not, hard to say.
