Flint To Cap Converson
« on: June 21, 2009, 05:53:28 AM »
I'm sure this has been covered before, so if this bores you just move on. But here is a picture of
my flint pistol with the percusion converson on. To go from flint to cap, just change the frizzen,
and replace the flint with this steel piece that looks like a flint. It has a hole drilled thru for the
jaw screw to keep it in place. Works like a charm.

Clever! I like the built-in deflector shield. Rick

Do you have powder in the pan too? Or just the cap for the flash?
Is the point of impact the same?

Neat.

No powder in the pan required. Haven't shot it enough to tell if impact is the same. Going to
range today and check it out.

The thing that concerns me about this admittedly interesting conversion is that the percussion "hammer" is not recessed to contain a shattered cap. It will happen.

Frizzen, is that one of those Yazel pistols?  I was down at Friendship and tried to track someone down who made those pistols but couldnt catch up with him.  Seemed like there was more of those kind of pistols than anything else.  Didn't see very many traditional pistols in the three days I was there.
