Flat powder horn.

Flat powder horn found on the Contemporary makers site. I'm of the opinion this is the spout end of a full sized powder horn and then made flat for pouch use. Note;  Incomplete engravings at cut end of horn. What do you all think. AJ.

Shortened, yes, probably. It think it has always been flat. Well, probably not when still on the cow.

I believe what leads him to this idea is the way the engraving runs off the end of the horn. This might have  been done originally or as suggested, when or if the horn was shortened. Without holding the horn to carefully examine the end of it, I doubt we'll ever be certain.

The horn was flat when it was engraved.

 I believe it is what it is, has not been shortened and been flat since day one.  Notice the shape of the dogs, they have tails, the Stag they are chasing is just out of the picture but his small tail shows.
