Need help with barrel stamp

I need help identifying the stamps on a "Hawken" style rifle from the 70's. The only stamps are the one in the photo. There are none on the bottom of the barrel or inside the lock. Anyone out there who can help.

Does G. R. F. not mean Green River Forge?

My first guess would also be Green River Forge, but I have an old G.R.F. Catalog that doesn’t show a rifle that looks like that one. So, it might be a gun built by someone that just happens to have those initials.Green River Forges Astorian rifle, and their trade guns, and factors pistol, were usually of better quality than the gun shown.

Thanks for the lead. They did produce a rifle and a kit called the Oregon Territory Rifle. This is what it appears to be. As I only live 3 hours from the gun works in Springfield Oregon I will take it to them and see what they think.
