Nice work. I am a little confused by the Title: Shoe horn factory . Maybe I am missing some thing, which wouldn't be unusual.

I am a bit confused with the title as well.  Maybe because the butt plates look a little bit like a shoe horn?? :-\

Its probably to fool the Butt Plate Revenuers that are trying to squash the illicit trade of un sanctioned "old Iron" butt plates. We will call them shoe horns so as not to tip off the BPR. You can have the parts for shoe horns  just don't be caught joining them together in to a fully functional butt plate.  :o There could be consequences.  8) Fact is if you have too many of those shoe horns laying around I have a perfect spot for them. ;D

You nailed it.
(I heard someone remark once at an event that I was making shoe horns)
I was at the museum forge today working on trigger guards and I heard a lady say I was making door handles.

What thickness is your band stock? It looks a stout 1/8" or better.

Pretty hefty stuff. They won’t dent if you jam your rifle down on a rock.

Off topic, but back in 2008 I bought a cherry stock at Dixon's.  I left Dixon's and flew to Norfolk where I spent a week.  I then flew to Portsmouth and spent a week there, all the time flying with this cherry stock as a piece of checked baggage.  When I arrived back home in Seattle, there was no cherry stock waiting for me at the baggage claim.  I reported it to the airlines and they said they would let me know when the located it.  Fortunately they found the stock and made arrangements to deliver the stock to my house in Bremerton on Sunday morning.  While having a cup of coffee with my wife, a lady showed up in a van with my gunstock.  I left the house to meet her and as she handing me the stock blank, she looked at me and ask if I made hockey sticks.  I smiled at her and politely stated yes, I have a hockey stick factory as I pointed to my shop.
