Barrel boring machine

Found a good heavy flywheel and finally getting ready to assemble gun boring machine to bore forge welded barrels. Any one have any pictures of theirs they would share? Here is the beginning. I am not sure what type machine this is from, but had a flat belt pulley and a rack and quadrant gear mechanism to provide about 6 inches of travel. The bearings are good, I think I can shorten the shaft (don’t need travel) and add thrust bearings and be ready. It has a hollow chuck with 1/2” hole and set screw to attach boring rods already installed.

I am no expert, but think blocks of hardwood would do as thrust bearings for barrel boring.  They can run real slick if greased or oiled.

Nifty looking machine, David.
Now you will need one or two of Rolf's "sub-teenage workers" to get things moving.
What part of the country are you in? May be able to provide a bit of muscle power on that flywheel.

Thanks James for the link. I remembered your post but would have never found it .
I ordered a thrust washer and a bronze bushing that will serve as thrust bearing and spacer. I will need to cut the shaft down and do a bit of lathe work.  I think we are going to do the boring at the museum. Should be able to snag some muscle power there.
