Is the Davis Jaeger lock a good reliable lock

Also realistically it’s about a 1720 design which could work on an early Hudson Valley fowler or New England fowler it a very early continental rifle. I don’t like to see it on early colonial rifles. Back in the 70s or 80s it was about all there was for real early and I used it then. It was reliable.
