What to do with this barrel
« on: August 24, 2019, 03:21:03 AM »
I've just come into possession of a 40 cal 38" octagon to round barrel and really don't know what to do with it. Are OTR barrels specific to any school or style?

I don't have the dimensions right now because Dave Keck has it inletting it into a piece of maple. It's an "A" weight barrel.

Greetings,

There is a Joe Long percussion rifle with an OTR barrel shown in "The Kentucky Rifle and Me" by Edith G. Cooper.  It seems to be the odd-man-out as the the other dozen or so Joe Long guns shown all have octagon barrels.

Best wishes with the project.  Please do share what direction you go with it.
