Greetings,
Jim, Yes I have made copies of both the Lukens and the Girardoni Air Rifles and I hope the following photos will answer your questions. Ron made the molds, waxes, then had them investment cast. This is a very technical process. Curtis thanks for the thoughts. Figuring how to post isn't that easy for me. You and Ed are a tough act to follow.
The intension was to use R&L Small Siler Internals.
Pic #1-- Is a comparison of the Small Siler tumblers and the 2 tumblers I turned on the lathe.
Pic #2-- Is laying out shape of the tumbler before filing.
Pic #3&4-- Are the tumbler being filed from different directions.
Pic #5--- Tumbler held in a Collet Fixture for filing. It is also a good way to hold the tumbler while drilling the hole for the cock screw. This is Thanks to Jim Chambers from his lock class.
Pic#6--- Is the tumber after case hardening
Pic#7-- You see the Dykem on the Right lock to fine tune the internals.
Pic#8--- R&L lock at Full Cock
Pic#9--- R&L lock at Half Cock
Pic#10--R&L lock at Rest
Pic#11--Wider View
Pic#12--Exterior of locks before reworking exterior carving/engraving.
Well, sorry I tried to add the Pics but it keeps coming up error and won't let me?
I'll have to try again later.
