What would be the appropriate use for Rice's new Nock lock? Is there any particular school/style best suited for it?

Something English around 1800-1820 I suppose. Others could narrow the period down better.

It's a neat little lock and would serve as a pistol lock as well.
I think it would look good on a half stock English style sporting
rifle.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?
