New Nock lock question

What would be the appropriate use for Rice's new Nock lock? Is there any particular school/style best suited for it?

Something English around 1800-1820 I suppose. Others could narrow the period down better.

It's a neat little lock and would serve as a pistol lock as well.
I think it would look good on a half stock English style sporting
rifle.
