Is it missing, broken, or do just not like it?

Several places should have a lock kit that could be made to work such as TOTW or PECATONICA RIVER. You could also call IFG as they are Pedersoli distributors and surely could supply a replacement part or entire lock.

A few years ago I made kits that replaced all parts in these locks except the sear spring.
The problem with the early versions of the GP Long Range Rifle was the lock. It had to
be pulled back BEYOND the full cock position to release the fly.My replacement kit eliminated
that hazard by making a correctly timed mechanism that would not allow this over travel
condition.IF the lock was cocked so the second "click"heard and then the hammer released
there was a chance the sear wouldn't or couldn't catch the full cock notch and then the gun
would go off when it wasn't supposed to.One man told me this happened to him and destroyed
his chronograph.I am NOT making any more of these kits and I think Pedersoli can help with
a new tumbler or maybe someone who knows what they're doing can look at the sear and the
full cock position of the existing tumbler. These are good shooting rifles and I have heard of new
records being set with them.

I have three Pedersoli rifles right now and have shot a few others. Out of the box they seem to have weak mainsprings, long let offs, and heavy pulls. My Whitworth is an anomaly as it had a great trigger, but a tad heavy at 4lbs, I have learned to work with it. The Gibbs has a Bob Roller upgrade kit which is very nice.

I would advertise for a good locksmith to work over the lock, if I were you.

I would simply add a shim as I stated on another forum.

If you need some pictures let me know and I will take a lock off and show you what I mean.

It is not that difficult.  Would take only a few minutes.

Here is some pictures showing the brass shim I used on this lock to lighten trigger pull.   This lock had quite a bit a take up on it before it would break and the trigger pull was quite a bit.   Now I cant tell of any creep and the trigger pull is about 2.75 lbs.

I soldered the shim in place.  When I shoot these rifles I am usually trying to get first place and I dont need a piece of brass coming loose from being glued in at the wrong time.  If your brass is too thick, you can always file it down once it is in place.

There is nothing unsafe with what I have done.  As you can see I still have full engagement and I guarantee you that my hammer will not fall without pulling the trigger.   I have smacked the butt very hard, more then once on full cock and the hammer did not drop.

Snapper,
How did you solder that shim into the lock without upsetting the hardness of the tumbler??
That is one of my "4 pin" locks made on Don Brown's plate. That "gash" for a sheet metal
sear spring to me is an irritant and I started making my own plates.

Bob

I very well could of upset the hardness.   I used a micro torch and was as quick as I could be.

Fleener,
It looks OK based on the color in the picture. The arm is blue but that
is normal on most of my locks. The tumbler is 1144 "Stressproof"
and oil hardened. It machines like 12L14 or Ledloy and hardens like
0-1 drill rod so it is to me at least,an ideal material.
