ALR Musuem: Relics ( a new section) "Kunz Patchbox"
« on: July 17, 2009, 08:00:03 PM »
The Museum and Library Committee, in an effort to continue and add to its exhibits,  has developed the concepts of "Relics." "Relics" in this conceptual context, are "parts of " or "incomplete" original guns which have artistic and historic merit. We , again ask you to contribute such to the Museum by sending pictures to parifles@earthlink.net.

The first exhibit is a patchbox attirbuted to Jacob Kunz. It has been added to a plain longrifle either to enhance its beauty or value or both. Undoubtedly it is not original to the gun and unlikely to have been added for functional use in the period. Never the less, the quality and artistic merit of the "box form" and engraving are felt to be exemplary.
