That “S” looks like a graphic image of a bison powder horn. If you squint just right....

It looks like a "J" to me, and that would fit.  But yes, call him.

Hate to rain on you guys parade, but I don't think Jack has built a gun in decades.  He has builders who do that for him.  Over the years he's had at least half a dozen guys, including Jackie Brown and Matt Avance as builders.  That initial is probably one of them.

Mike Davis is another who used to work for Jack.
My first flintlock rifle was a Jack Garner 50 cal SMR. Back 15 yrs or so ..I went through a period of "lost interest" for a while, and foolishly let it get away from me. This be my morning confessional then...I still kick myself about that.  ::)

Update: Talked with Jack last evening. yep, been 15 years since he last made guns. this was one of his. I'm also having trouble making it shoot a decent group.. 16" @ 70 yd. isn't good. Jack gave me advice on what he'd use in it and what to check.
One thing that impresses me is the speed of the lock. I've never shot a flintlock thats this fast.

Jack had a fairly talented worker named Barry Stuart. This could be an S to signify he did the extra decoration but that is just a wag. Tim

A friend talked to Jack recently.  Apparently Barry has moved to MS and is working for Matt.
He also said that Jack has cancer.

Jack still has a few more treatments to go, but one of his last visits showed him cancer free according to Miss Sara.  As we know prayer does work.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I talked to Jack years ago when he built guns for Turner Kirkland at Dixie gun works. He’s a real nice guy, and built some pretty nice guns back then, even though the parts he had to work with were inferior to the parts he’s using now.
