Terry's St. Patricks Day Shoot
« on: March 24, 2020, 07:47:35 PM »
She held her annual shoot on the 22nd.  There were six shooters, me on the left, Shar, Carney, Terry, Margie and Skunk.  My target was the second from the left- the big shamrock, then the leprechaun (hit in the right eye) and the hanging little leprechaun by Carney's leg.  I hit all three.

The dreaded axe blade.  I held at the top to break down into the clays but hit the strap.  Zero.  Then there was a 2" tube flapper target next to it, which I hit.

Two medium shamrocks and a rubber duckie on the string.  Hit all three.

Pot of gold- green.  I missed it!  Diagonal "plug"- I hit it.

Another "plug".  I confused the names and in self scoring called this a hit, later found the name for the diagonal plug and correctly scored that a hit.  Thus I hadn't shot this plug and when Skunk and I tied for second place, I realized my mistake and took myself down to third place.

A fiendish flapper- hit it.  The running (sliding) leprechaun is at top.

The barrel targets.  I hit the left, missed the big middle and hit the small right.  A medium tube target is at lower left.  Hit it, too.

The greased-up running leprechaun.  I missed it, down 5 points.

Margie shooting.  She shoots very well, too.

Skunk shooting.  He came in second place with 23 points.

Shar.  She took first pace with 30 points.  There were 17 targets.

Carney shooting a newly purchased .50.

The targets less the axe blade off the left side.

Terry shooting in 2016.  I didn't get a photo this year.  Neill Fields at right.

Herb shooting in 2019.  Bob took some good photos of all of us, I hope to post some later.  My rifle is a Kit Carson copy I built with a 15/16" .54 H&H barrel instead of the 1 1/8" like the original.  Mine is light enough that I can shoot it.  I used 50 grains of Goex 3F.

The prize table.  Shar took the goody basket and Skunk the preparedness basket on the right.

My prize for missing the easy Pot of Gold and Running Leprechaun targets...........

A great poster prize by Jim Snook.

Bob Woodall took this photo of me shooting the big shamrock.  You can see the hole at three o'clock on the center of the second from the left.  Notice my barrel is raised in recoil relative to the flame.

How can I grin with that arrow through my head?  Must not be anything in there.......

Thanks, Bob!

Seems like we used to shoot the split the ball on the ax about 10 yds, that looks like a " fur piece ".
Thanks Herb, looks like everyone had a good time.
