Jeweler saw blades

  I'm in the process of making my own metal parts. Namely trigger guards an inlays and butt plates.  Spiral straight..? Some of the metal is up to .090 thick.  My question is what blades do you guys recommend ?  I can't seem to get the blades to cut very well or follow my lines.
  Your input much appreciated.

Some of the better hardware stores sell a miniature hack saw that uses a fine tooth blade and Harbor Freight may have them as well.
The problem now is finding a hardware store still in business.

Rio Grande supply has a good chart that matches the metal material with a blade size and they have very good jewelers saw blades as well. I find I use a 1/0 or 1 blade most frequently.

Also when installing the Jewler's saw blade in the frame make sure to tension the frame so the blade is as taunt as you can make it.  You will have a better outcome!  Hugh Toenjes

 And that the teeth point towards the handle. I tried those spiral things once, I couldn't stay on a line for 3/8", they went in the trash. See if this helps on blade sizes:

  Tim an everyone else Thank you...!!  I tried a few different blades.
Now off to get more metal an new blades. Guess I might have been using to much elbow grease amongst other things...lol

Let the blade do the work, you shouldn’t really need to use any elbow grease.

I do as little as possible with jewelers saws. I’d rather hacksaw and file.

I'm with Rich.  You can also get a relatively cheap metal cutting bandsaw and a 1" belt grinder that will really help.

 I do have a  bandsaw . Well I'll give that a shot. Mostly because I don't have to order a blade for it. Thanks again Everyone...
