This is a recent set made from one of my signature patterns.
It is based on an early 18th century painting by Seeman.
Intregal pocket on flap. Fully lined and has a horsehide one piece belt channel in rear. Pewter button and a die forged iron buckle.

Thanks! Its basically a saddle tan but came out more yellow in my photo box. My adjustments wouldn't cooperate.

Thanks. This was actually commissioned by Tom Conde before his passing. He was setting up accoutrements for his guns to leave as a legacy to his son.

I'm not sure of the dimensions as I worked this pattern out some time ago.

James.... Is there a small gusset in this pouch or is it sewn flat w/o a gusset ? Very nice little pouch and well done as usual.

Frank, no gussets. The main body is not flat sewn but turned with a rolled welt. What you may be seeing to think that its flat sewn is the bound flap which has an intregal pocket.

Any chance you could use this bag, lay it out in the sun once in a while and post more pictures? When you build one with the quality of this bad boy it just gets better with age.

This one ships off to a collection this coming week but I do plan to make one doe myself. Of course you know the shoemaker and his kids dont ever seem to have good footwear for themselves. I have one bag of my own making and it was my first entry in 1990 or so at Dixons. Tanned the hide, my first handmade buckle and it won a ribbon. Almost traded it off the other year as a friend wanted it but my son wanted it for memories.

Beautiful work but your description leaves me confused. I don't see an "integral pocket" ? Also, the fourth photo lacks the white stitching around the face of the bag and it lacks the decorative parallel lines which the first three photos display. Is the fourth photo a different bag or a second pocket on the bag?

Jerry,
The last picture shows the body of the bag and flap wide open. The other photos show it with the flap closed. The button provides entry for the pocket on the flap. Clear as mud? This is a feature found on many Euro bags from medieval times up to the present day with hawking/falconry style bags
