Liogier equivalent to Nicholson#49
« on: March 13, 2020, 02:07:18 AM »
I've decided to bite the bullet and get me a Liogier cabinet rasp. I haven't been able to find which stitch would be the equivalent to a Nicholson #49. My best guess would be a #7 or #9, but I really don't know. Those of you that have one, which do you recommend?

On their website they actually list two rasps which are their answer to the #49 and #50. Dig around and you should be able to find it.  They developed them specifically for the US market.

From the Liogier web page:

Graters Liogier # 49 and # 50

At the request of US customers who want to take the shape of rasp Nicholson # 49 or # 50.

I realized these tapered rasps with bite # 11 or # 50 Liogier and bite No 8 for the Liogier # 49.

Sdilts,

Noel at Liogier sent us a prototype of their "49" a few years ago for us to try out and review.  Here's a link to that discussion.... https://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=30280.0

A search on "Liogier" in the ALR search function will turn up several dicussions on Liogier's products.
