« on: March 18, 2020, 01:00:21 PM »

Completed One of this weeks projects a 9” bladed riflemans knife with stag handle, iron s guard and bolster 14 1/2” overall. Forged 5160 steel.  Iron end cap with a peened through tang.  The stag handle is a very old piece I received from Bob Elkan.

Just beautiful work.  Great metalwork and finishes.  That sambar stag is a fine piece of antler too.  God Bless,  Marc

thank you gentlemen, this one was fun to do, not something usually said about the S guard because they are a lot of work to fit.  Sometimes a project just seems to flow together from start to finish, the steel moved well in the forge, everything seemed to line up right and the antler is a piece of stag I got from Mr. Bob Elkan.  He got that piece in the 70s or 80s.  I really like the color.

This one is going to be in the CLA Auction in October.

When I shut my eyes and think about a rifleman's knife this is exactly what I see.
Might just be the nicest knife I've seen this year, thanks for sharing.

Nice knife Todd. How do you like forging the 5160 steel?

I like it moves well and finishes beautifully.  I plan on doing a lot more with it.
