Lock for an upcoming project
« on: March 22, 2020, 07:04:35 PM »
Here is a lock, made about 20 years ago that I am going to use in an Alex Henry copy.  Will post periodic updates.

Is it a Waltham, by the American Watch Company?  Lovely workmanship.

Art is not an object.  It is the excitement inspired by the object.

That is one fine looking lock.As near as I can calculate I THINK I have made
about 43  similar locks since 1987 when I made my first one. Some were
"3 pin" instead of 4 but no noticeable difference in the way they worked.
Thanks for posting this one.

I should note that I did not make this lock.  Maker will remain anonymous.

What a great looking lock and if the maker also makes flintlocks I would like to talk with him.

Right after I joined this forum I made up what was supposed to be 10 Twigg flintlocks
based on the R.E.Davis externals. It turned out to be 14 and the last one went to South Africa.
These locks had a "3 pin bridle"with sear turning on a axle. I saw one of these for sale at
Friendship last Fall but don't know who the man was that displayed it.I plan no more lock
making but there are a few of my past works around.
I know some of my caplocks are archived here but don't know where or what time frame to
look under. One is a Rigby and there are a few others as well.
