Rolfkt,
I was looking hard for new styles or manufacturer's of left hand locks at Dixon's, but I didn't see any :(.   I didn't really pay attention to any types of right-handed locks.  It's a frustrating world for us southpaws.

Yeah, I know. I was hopig someone would make a nice lefthanded jaeger lock or an english dueller lock Wogden style. Oh well, I've got time to wait. It will be a while before I'm finished with the two projects I'm working on.

I had heard a rumor to the effect that Jim and Barbie (Chambers Flintlocks) might be going to offer a new Germanic/Jaeger lock.  At least I think that's what it was going to be.  Any sign of that?

Reaves had some plates/cocks etc for a Golcher pistol lock. Doubt he has them in left hand. He told me he will soon have some Golcher rifle locks but I assume he is talking about castings and not the assembled locks. I sure wish someone would come out with a nice flint Golcher.

As far as the left handed locks; the sticking point is all the time and effort required to get it into production.  Even to copy an existing right handed lock, it is still whole new ball game to do a lefty.  Best laid plans seldom work just right on the first (or second, or third) try.

Stan  H0llenbaugh has a wonderful lefthanded Armstrong lock that I've used before.  It's a great lock and is super fast with it's hand forged springs.

Rolfkt,
Stan's e-mail is srhakh@verizon.net
phone is 717-259-9271
You don't see a lot of Stan's locks out there because he is a low volume maker, but that is a good thing to me.  I've used several of his and am very pleased.  I'm not saying anything against Jim Chambers locks because they are great, Stan's are just something a little different than what people are used to seeing.

I wonder if  Jim Chambers would entertain taking a count  of buyers should he make a LH small Siler & a LH Ketland & SEE if there is enough to warrant producing them.  Right off the bat I would take 6 LH  Ketlands..........
And there are ALLOT of guys out there that would love a LH small Siler to make Doubles with, me for one.  I have Everything to make a nice double with flintlock, except for 2 quality locks.......
I think he would have a good seller on both locks as everyone knows Jim's lock quality & parts avail. & warranty.    ;)

Possibly do a thing like Eric  did with the 46"  long barrels with Rice when they started them ?  Pay for the locks up front & ease the set up build cost.    :-\

I agree,
I have 2 blanks right now that I will be building for myself that need some quality left hand locks, I'm getting proficient at tuning the L&R locks but that time could be spent doing other parts of the build.

As soon as someone will give me a prepaid order for 600 left hand locks of whatever style I'll get right to work tooling up for that style of lock.  That order would just barely pay for the tooling.  Considering I sold exactly 78 left hand locks all of last year, and considering I'm 62 years old now, it just doesn't make economic sense to tool up for half a dozen new left hand locks.

I'm good for 6, 586 to go.

Could be a bit of a stretch for the remainder though.

Thanks for your input though Jim, kinda brings things into perspective.  :o

Jim, just an idea. You make left and rigth gunmakers flintlocks. Based on the siler pan, hammer and frizzen, it should be possible to make versions of these parts that would fit this lock.  This make it easier to make different styles of locks based on the gun makerlock

You could cast a siler frizzen without the big noch in the front, and make a rounded pan.
This would make it a more an english style.

Best regards
