Well just to prove that I really do finish a rifle from time to time (I have a reputation for being interminably s l o w, because I AM!), here's a few pics of the one I just finished. As chance would have it, it's another Chambers, Edward Marshall kit. This one was purchased by the owner in 1994, according to the sales receipt, and we'll just say that I haven't had it as long as he did.

Jeff-- There is nothing wrong with being "slow" I would rather see this gun that you just posted than a lot of others out there that were made in much less time---- Good job!

That's a real nice piece of work! It makes no sense to rush and turn out something you are not proud of. You ought be real proud!

I agree with Acer. If it ain't fun at the time don't do it. That's where things get messed up. Especially on a rifle of that type. If you want to produce, build a shimmel. Nice rifle.

Nice clean job on it. Good fit and finish! I really like it, even with a shiny lock

How did you pin the front of the trigger guard? The tab on mine was so short, I had to splice on another pce. of brass to get it long enough to run a pin under the lock plate & lock. I don't like to run a pin through the curved area under the lock panels. This was the second Chambers kit I had to do this on. Did you see mine in the for sale section?

Well just to set the record straight, I've have made two plainer guns also, during the same time that I have been working on this one. In fact my son said, "I'm getting faster," Ha!

Steve (Mr. "low-profile"), it's good to hear from you. Glad to here that portmanteau is getting used. (Believe it or not, I spelled portmanteau right the first time AND the spell check recognized it)

Charlie, I'm hoping maybe to shoot it Mon. Did you find any .535 balls or do I need to mold some?

Tom, the tenon on the front of this triggerguard was long enough that no special treatment was necessary. I did see yours, and it's quite nice. I'm surprised it hasn't sold. I imagine it won't last long on Track's site if you put it there.

George here's a couple more pictures I had taken...

The picture quality is not quite as good with this bunch. They were all done crudely on top of the work bench. Sorry!

That's a fine looking rifle!!! Notice your son is also a "critic" as is mine. My 9 year old informed me that I couldn't build his gun from a pre-carved because that was cheating

. So I figure when the time is right here in a year or so I'm going to line the barrel up on a blank, give him a hammer & chisel like I started and see what he thinks about using a precarved after that!!

Oh yeah back to the post. Jeff anyone would be proud to call that rifle their own. Congratulations on completing such a beautiful piece.

Well I just saw Rich's post on restoring photobucket pictures, so I went looking for what I had hanging out there and found this one.
I'd like to know what has become of it. I Did it for a guy who had bought it to put together but found himself in over his head. I believe he's now deceased and I haven't seen it since I finished it. I wouldn't mind having to back if I could find it.

I think your picture quality is pretty good, but that Photobucket band across them doesn't do anything for them. I use this sites photo posting system and prefer it X 100!! Lovely rifle.

I have used the newer image hosting also, but For these older pix I presume I would need to go back and find the original images on my computer, in order to really fix them right.
Is there a simpler way?
