Best semi-inlet stock for a Bridger and Carson Hawken
« on: May 31, 2020, 12:24:30 AM »
Pecatonica's non-inlet Hawken halfstock is the best I have used.  Inlet for barrel (15/16, one inch or 1 1/8 inch) and drilled rod hole (3/8 or 7/16) only.  I just got a grade CM-1 (least figure).  Here it is with a full-size photo of the Carson Hawken.

The cheek side.

The Jim Bridger Hawken full sized [photo.

Top of the wrist grain.

Forend grain.  Almost too fancy for plain maple!

My last Bridger copy at top and a smaller Kit Carson at bottom, with a 15/16" barrel and a Pecatonica stock.

This info along with your previous post on parts should help those that would like to be as accurate as possible on reproducing These Hawkens.  I’ve had good luck on other styles of stocks purchased from Pecatonica.  Working on one now when I have the chance, barrel fit very good and ramrod going exactly where it should.  Thanks Herb, it’s been awhile, you might just get me to try building another Hawken with these posts!
