A SURPRISE PRESENT FROM HOLLAND
« on: May 13, 2020, 03:55:35 PM »
A couple of days ago I received an unexpected package in the mail from my good friend Adri Luke.  It contained a wonderful letter that I will keep forever,  telling me, among other things,  that he was sending this surprise present.  When I opened the package here was this wonderful little walnut box, and inside was the most beautiful little flintlock lock I have ever seen.  Needless to say I was speechless.

It's beautiful, David!
Are you going to use it on your next 42" barreled rifle?

David,

I had the honour to see and to hold the rifles of Norm [chowmi].
After that I had the honour to visit you and your shop with all the Flintlock rifles and swivel breeches.
I saw the silvercasting rifle made by Jon [Kingsbury Arms].
I cannot show you my rifles and shop, the present brings a little part of my world to yours.
All the members always say "you have to hold a real Flintlock rifle ones", well I did that in your shop.
By showing your present on ALR you have given my a real stroke over my head!

Adrie, That is beautiful craftsmanship, and an even more beautiful gift for a friend.  Until you see it with a full sized lock, it looks just like a big one.  The presentation box with label is exceptional as well.  I dare say you could sell a few of these on ALR if you made more.  Just wonderful.  God Bless,   Marc

David,
That is beautiful!  What a wonderful gift from Adrie.

I will confess that I knew he was sending it to you and couldn't wait to hear that you had it!  You have given him the gift of mentorship, and now he has given you some of his fine work in return.

Have you tried it with a flint?  It will spark, I am sure, and it will make you smile!

All the best to you and Esther,

Norm
Cheers,
Chowmi

You may try about #7 shot, thin piece of silk for a patch.  Prob  about 2 or 3 grains of 4-FG powder.
