Well, it shoots very well also.  Seems to like 40 gn's Swiss 3F with a .350 ball and a .18 thick patch.

That combo will likely work just fine. Mine Rice .36 likes a .350" ball, .020 and 40gr. GOEX 3F.
Really easy loading, 2 fingers on the rod once the ball is started.

Rolf, I am not aware of any place selling them (longrifle size) regularly.  I kinda lucked into this one.

After sighting it in (off a bench) on Tuesday, I went back to shoot off hand today.  It is very accurate, but I am having a hard time adjusting to the light weight.  Going again tomorrow to adjust my weak hand hold and see if I can steady it up a little.  Never thought I would wish for more weight.

As someone else remarked "I'm not crazy about birds eye" but this is the best looking one I've seen.
The light weight may take a little getting used to. My offhand rifle weighted just shy of 13# and it too took some getting used to. Great job!

Wow, now that's a piece of birdseye maple !  I built one years ago but the wood was no where near as nice as that.  That is a very special piece of wood. Nice job on the build also.  The wood is so magnificent we are over looking the nice job  of building.

Thanks for the compliment David.  I tried to build it like it deserved to be.

Beautiful rifle Sir, must have been a real challenge to work that wood! Looks well worth the effort!
