I was cutting up some antler crown knife handles and giving some of the left over antler pieces to my dogs to chew.  As I picked up this one piece, it felt very comfortable in my right hand. So I made a a blade from a 3 inch scrap of file.  Tried to make it safe with finger groove and you would be pushing downward away from the blade to start the ball.  Opinions....tippit

I think it is very practical as a patch cutting knife - nice touch with the antler 8). Not sure how that ball starter would work out :-\ Overall as they say on "Forged & Fire -- It Will Cut" ;D

Well I did ask for opinions...maybe I should just cut the antler tine off, reshape the handle, and re-stain the antler to match the handle?? Something like this...

I would give it a try before I cut the tine off, if it was mine. I like the overall look and functional design very much.

The more I looked at this knife, the more I didn't like the shape. Time to crank up the Bandsaw...

Looks way better, originally it looked rather awkward. Good job!

I like the birds head shape better than the original. Looks much more streamlined and functional plus it shows the beauty of the antler better.

Well it was supposed to be a dual purpose knife...anyway it just didn't look that great with the antler tine ball starter.
