French Trade Knife / Bush Craft Knife with Pic's
« on: June 11, 2020, 06:15:47 AM »
I got tired of working on a  particular gun and decided to make a knife of my own design. Pic's follow. It is over 11 inches long with a 7-1/2 inch blade. It is 3/16 inches thick and finished with curly maple scales and a faux damascene (sp?) finish. (NOT a patch knife)

I wonder if anyone has used this faux finish on any of their projects. Comments appreciated. Thanks

Very nice. Shape and size remind me of my, modern day, BlindHorse Knives "Pathfinder" knife, which in love when I need a big modern knife.
That finish looks interesting. Does it add any slight, or heavy, texture to the blade?

The treatment leaves the surface smooth as ever. The mustard is only left on for 20 minutes.

I have used mustard to do the same thing to a new rifle barrel. It does leave an interesting pattern.

Nice knife!

I’ve used mustard and vinegar for knives and barrels in the past.

It can create some interesting looking patterns when wrapped with various items... Saran Wrap, cloth, twine for example.
