Thanks for the positive comments.  It has been a satisfying transition moving to muzzleloader building but challenging nonetheless.  First wood carving and first flat topped checkering were the big ones.  I don't know the origin of the percussion wood but it came to me as a very large thin shell walnut blank.  It was just over 5" thick and 10" deep.  Chainsaw might have been a more appropriate tool for initial shaping.  The barrel key was also a first.  In the end I burned it in.  Came out ok but need to get through a few more before I have any comfort level with the process.

Jeff-The engraving was done by FEGA engraver Jim White of Wasilla here in Alaska.  Engraving is an art form I've never attempted and Jim has been doing my guns for many years.  I gave him some photos of antique gun that I liked and what you see is the outcome.  The brass engraving too, is clean and simple.  The combination of the austere engraving and David Rase's case colors nicely complement the rifle.
