Another Horn Finished
« on: July 20, 2020, 02:30:17 AM »
Greetings All,

I was encouraged by many of you after posting my last horn project and just finished up this skinny one.

Ten inches around the outside curve but only two inches across the pine base.  Surface scraped (some marks remain, a few "age marks" added as well) then the whole thing got the vinegar/iron solution & heat gun treatment.

Thoughts/suggestions/comments welcome.

Thanks for looking,
Kevin

Perfect horn for a southern squirrel rifle. Two thumbs up!

Fellows,

Thanks for the continued encouragement.

Greg, you stated that it is a "Perfect horn for a southern squirrel rifle."  While figuring out what to do with this skinny horn I came across one of the same approximate proportions in the "Individuality In the Mountains" section of Madison Grant's "The Kentucky Rifle Hunting Pouch" and it served as the inspiration for this one.

Take Care All,
Kevin

I LOVE it and adore the base plug. The shape is a lot like many originals I’ve seen.

Greetings All,

Many thanks for the additional comments and encouragement. I've got to hit the reference books to get a feel for what to do with the next horn on the bench.  Unlike this one, it has some substancial size to it.

Take Care Everyone,
Kevin
