Recently got my new .54 caliber rifle and matching pistol created by Lowell Haarer in Linville, Va. The rifle has a Rice 37-inch swamped barrel and a Jim Chambers Late Ketland lock. The pistol also has a Rice swamped barrel in 13-inch and again has a Chambers late Ketland lock. These both come from his line of "Sparky's Nothing Fancy" line. Scraped wood with an antique patina on the metal. The rifle seems to like 75 grains of Goex 3F, .530 Hornady round ball with a .018 pillow ticking patch. Same load for pistol only with 40 grains of 3F. I was going for what a 1770's market hunter might have had made for himself. The shorter barrel is for carrying in the rugged canyons and rimrocks of Eastern Oregon. I am speechless I hope you think so too.
