Austrian capper

Like most of the old accoutrements that I've found for use with my muzzleloaders this capper had some issues when it arrived. It had a weak and cracked tensioner spring and was missing the tab on the rotary lid lock. This is the only one of these that I've seen and it is being used with my 16 gauge double. I made a new spring from a .015" feeler gauge and made a tab for the rotary lock that was checkered and soldered into the existing hole.

Pretty cool, Dennis. I like it when the old antiques/ accouterments can still be put to good use. Thumbs up. --JB
