Band saw blade
« on: September 13, 2020, 09:05:44 PM »
I have a 10" Rockwell band saw.  This is a bit small but has done OK for me.  Yesterday I forgot to tighten the blade before sawing and the blade quickly snapped.  The spec's on the blade are 72 7/16"long, 1/4" wide and 6 TPI.  Where could I order a replacement?  Also should I change any of the spec's?  For instance should the blade width be more than 1/4" or a different TPI?
Thanks,
Greg

Check with <sawblade.com>  talk to one of the salespersons and tell them what you have and what you are cutting they will fix you up quickly and their prices are fair.

Personally I would go to Highland Woodworking and get a blade from them
I love their Woodslicer blades, but they carry other brands and have always been good to work with.

I just got a blade for mine from Timber Wolf bandsaw blades.  It's a 1/4 with 4tpi and it just cut rock hard birdseye maple like it was cutting butter and made good tight turns. I'm happy with this blade so far.   Al

Don't know where your located but these guys will ship, they are in Columbus Oh. If you call before noon it will go out the same day. I just got 6 from them, less than 70 bucks. Been dealing with them for about 12 years, good folks.

Thanks for the information. The Timber Wolf 1/4"- 4 TPI sounds good.

Gregory,
I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much for cutting out blanks with a 10 band saw. I use a 14”, and sometimes it’s marginal.
A good blade will unlock its potential though.
