Greetings Hortonstn,

I have the "twin" to your barrel.  My barrel is from the mid 1970s and has the same muzzle end markings.  Also has "G R Douglas"  "45 caliber" stamped on a flat near the breech.

8 narrow cuts might be a Douglas but I was thinking that Douglas marked their barrels on the flat with any run out.

My first thought, was Douglas as well.  I recall the run-out issue SmyleeG, with instructions to breech it with the thin flat up or down.
Run-out was caused by drilling octagonal blanks, instead of chucking the rifled blanks on centers and milling the flats concentric to the bore
as most barrel makes do today.

I have one on my 1st build stamped same on muzzle, no other marks and no run out, or very little.... Bought from Dixie GW in 1977 or 8.   Excellent shooter.

I have a barrel sold to me many years ago sa a 'Sharon'. The only markings are on the muzzle,
45, 72. Nothing on the flats.
