Now that we have the butt stock installed, there is still a lot of extra wood to remove as efficiently as possible.
Before we remove the extra wood we need to have some lay out lines both top and bottom of the stock.
I now carefully bandsaw away the extra wood as shown in the next two photos
Now do the same thing on the bottom side of the stock
Your butt stock should now look a little like this
With the extra wood taken away from the butt plate area I move forward to the bottom of the cheek piece. Lay out the bottom like of the cheek piece as dictated by the gun you are copying.
I use a short cut hand saw to cut the bottom line.
Now you can use a chisel to split away the unnecessary wood at the bottom of the cheek piece.
So now you have a rough shaped out butt stock ready to do some wood removal with rasps and chisels. You just keep refining the lines, but you are off to a good start
