small flintlock pistol

I started this pistol when I made three locks, a few years ago. That batch of locks were small, only 3- 1/4 inches long and were a lot of fun to make. I had previously cut an apple tree down that was in the way of a boat storage lot and I saved a bunch of crooks and large bent branches for pistol stocks.
The over all length of this piece is 11 inches with a 7 inch naval bronze barrel. The barrel was at one time a power boat prop shaft and I drilled it on an atlas lathe, reamed to 7/16"
The last pictureshows the pistol with a small Siler lock for size comparison.

That's a dandy! I always wondered about boring an old bronze boat shaft.

I really like it. It looks like it just left 18th century Europe.

If there is a material that I hate boring more than bronze I've not encountered it. Stainless is not far behind it.

Taylor has a bronze boat propeller shaft - should make up into a Blunderbuss.
Hmmm!
