Flintlock Finally Finished
« on: October 07, 2020, 09:22:59 PM »
This stock started out as a Lancaster profile as I ordered it from Knob Mountain at the last Dixons fair.  By the time I began working on it, my focus shifted more towards Tennessee / Southern guns.  So I reshaped the butt and proceeded from there.  So I guess it can be called contemporary. The gun has a .45 cal. Rice barrel, and double set triggers I picked up from the Rice table at the fair... not quite sure who made them. And a Chambers small Siler lock.  It points really nice and weighs 6 1/2 pounds.  I stained it with tannic acid and iron nitrate, sealed it with LMF sealer and Permalyn finish.
The target was at 50 yards, 5 shots, .445 ball, .015 patch and 55 grains 3f.

She’s a real beauty. And a shooter. Well done. Well done. Maybe it’s no one’s style but yours. Nice.

That rifle is a piece of eye candy and I'm still drooling.  Beautiful work for a beautiful rifle.  And a tack driver, too!

I like it too & I like that you made it the way you wanted to make it.
Also, a shooter, just as most are, right off the bat.

That is one beautiful gun.. you have a good imagination for what may have been created back then and there. Beautiful curl and patch box.   Al
