My try at a Scottish dirk

Have been interested in dirks and I decided to try it myself. Lots of filework with pewter and iron fixtures.

Thank you sir, if I do another I may try to carve some knot work on the handle but for this one I let it stay plain.  I may still engrave the butt cap.

Anyone have an idea of how common dirks were on the American frontier in the mid to late 18th century.  I know there were a lot of Scottish and Scotch-Irish who settled in the Carolinas and Virginia (my family being one that goes back to at least 1755).  This make me curious how much of the Scottish material culture was brought over.
