Jim Chambers PA Fowler Kit
« on: December 16, 2020, 12:04:32 AM »
Hello All,

I’m thinking about picking up one of Jim Chambers PA fowler kits. Barbie told me today she has three in stock in cherry, plain maple, and walnut. I’m leaning toward walnut but not really sure. What would have been more common. Anyone here have experience building the PA fowler kit? Would love to hear from you. Thanks.
Best Regards,

Josh Sawyer

I have built one in .54 smoothbore .   It's a fabulous kit ,and I know of two others up here who have them in 20 bore.   They love them.

I built one in 20 ga. It turned out really nice.  A great kit!! Posted pictures on ALR. It has a one piece silver muzzle cap and a silver thumb piece. Do a search and take a look.

I built one earlier this year for a fellow. Wasn't too hard and it turned out real nice. Some of the pre-inlets were too big for the parts and had to be filled.
It's in plain maple, 20 ga.

It’s interesting to me how their PA fowler kit comes with a muzzle cap but their smooth rifle kit does not. They currently don’t have any smooth rifle kits in stock but thinking I could add a rifle style trigger guard with a grip rail and a rear sight to the fowler kit to make it more of a fowler/smooth rifle hybrid. Probably not historically accurate but I’m looking for something that suits my tastes and be used to hunt large and small game.

If your already leaning towards walnut have them send you pictures of the one they got. Once you see it you will probably want it, I was sure tempted by it when she sent me pictures of it to me last week. I'm seriously considering picking up the cherry one they have.
