« on: December 17, 2020, 01:07:45 AM »
Does anyone know where I can obtain Oxpho bluing agent in Canada? No US supplier will ship to Canada that I know of.

Thanks

I bought a bottle of the stuff from Rusty Woods near Vancouver BC.  It was expensive, but not as crazy at that one above!!

Another bluing that works great is 44/40. Don’t know if it’s available there. I do know it’s good stuff. Jerry

I use Birchwood Casey's Super Blue which can sometimes be bought at Canadian Tire Stores or local gunshops.  It works very well too.

I personally abhor the use of cold blueing, but - there are times it is necessary.
My favourite over the years has gravitated to Birchwood Casey's Paste Gun Blue.
This is more of a cream, than a paste.
I find it give the best most even "blue/black" I've seen.  Multiple dags of it rubbed into the
surface, refreshed, over and over until it's perfect, then run under cold water, then wiped
 dry, then WD40'd. Done.
Of course if you were going to rub it back to something grayish, that's your forte'.
i've always bought mine form the local hardware store which carries very few supplies/

Brownell's is in the United States Of America, Jerry.  You may find it hard to believe, but they don't have an outlet up here North of the Medicine Line.  And they won't ship liquids like that to Canada, either.  It boggles my mind that big chain stores can bring in stuff like this, but the little guy who uses it, cannot.

I've just recently used the Birchwood Casey Super Blue and will never go back to using Oxpho or 44/40.
Honestly, it worked so well that I thought I was dreaming! :)
