I am getting started on this project and thought there might be some interest on how available parts can be adapted. It is based on the Jaeger illustrated in the George Shumway article. I have a set of mounts copied from my Felix Meier (Vienna), barrel from Charles Burton and new Jaeger lock #19 from Chris Laubach.

I'm hoping that this means you are offering to do a detailed build thread for this rifle. I for one will be very interested in following along with the parts that I have assembled for such a project.

The carving behind the cheekpiece reminds me of the early Isaac Berlin rifle carving, a bit. Nice project. I cannot tell if in the article the lock is partly round faced.

I have to dig them out, but these articles were also in the early American Rifleman magazine..I have learned a tremendous amount of information from them.

Finished rifle . The is the darkest piece of European Walnut ZI have worked. Alkanet oil finish.

Beautiful work Ron, Those mounts look like sterling not steel. Breath taking work as always.

Rich that lock is round on the back half tail, flat w beveled edge forward from the shoulder of the cocks back side up to the front lock bolt extension.

That is beautiful rifle. I have admired That particular gun in Shumway's article. The walnut is gorgeous. Great inletting. Bravo!!

Wonderful job Ron! Did this stock require pore filling? If so, how did you fill the wood's pores? Either way, it came out very nice.

I didn't work at filling the pores of this Walnut. They were very small and repeated, rubbed coats of the McWilliams Alkanet Oil pretty well filled the pores.
