Would 3/8 diameter be too large? It will be for a Beck rifle.

Not in the least too large in my opinion, but a tapered ramrod always seems best to me as well.

Thanks Pukka and I’m with you on a tapered ramrod. I have one of Tom Curran’s ramrod tapering tools that I used to taper the RR on a Jim Chambers English Sporting rifle that I’m currently building.
