Dan, HH: Thanks for your comments. These don't have the recesses that the hog ring pliers I've seen have had. With the return spring and the hand-forged flare on the front of the front handle to be easy on the fingers, this is made for some highly repetitive task. The people I talked to concluded it was a sprue cutter, but that could certainly be wrong. There was also half of an ancient buckshot mold in the bucket, but that doesn't prove anything.
