Fantastic Don Bruton knife & sheath
« on: March 05, 2021, 08:26:22 PM »
To accompany the new rifle Don made for me he sent along a knife I am so proud to own that it will go with me where ever I go to shoot for all to see.
Hand forged out of an old Black Diamond file with a white tail deer antler handle. The blade is 7 3/4 long X 1 5/16 wide at the bolster with an overall length of 12 1/2 -inches. The bolster is wrapped in tan deer skin while the sheath is oil tanned cow hide sewn with 5 cord linen. I absolutely love this knife! Thank you so much Don for agreeing to add this fine piece to the rifle.

That's good looking. What is that bolster made from, wrapped rawhide?

PS: I'd ware it everyday. TC

Tim: according to the info I got with the knife the bolster is wrapped in tanned deer skin that has been coated in a "special" glue of Don's to make it very hard and long lasting. Going to a shoot tomorrow everyone is very anxious to see the new rifle and knife. Don is currently raising heck with the bass population in South Carolina but still keeping his hand in the game to the extent he wants to be.

Nice!  Don is able to combine "rustic" and "elegant" with incomparable skill.

As always I love don's work be it his razor sharp knives or his Boone rifles an smoothbore's. When Don builds something he builds it to be used. Im sure this knife will skin its share of deer.
