Hello Folks,
This is my second version of the gentleman's tweed haversack. I swore I'd never make another, but a request from a friend and the chance to improve my design swayed me. Did I mention that I am not fond of sewing cloth?
As my English friends would say, my fingers are "knackered". No more sewing until after the Knoxville show.
The haversack is 12" x 11", just right for "plunder" at CLA, Snickers bars, or other useful historically correct items. This tweed cloth is lined in heavy 100% canvas. The top flap and bottom reinforcements are 3-4 ounce veg tanned cowhide. The lining of the flap is 2-3 ounce bridle leather. Heavy cowhide stiffener inside the top back to prevent bowing or sagging. Color is thinned Fiebing's Pro Dye Dark Brown with antiquing glaze and top finish. Straps are 4-5 ounce cowhide. Buckles are by Richard Lanni of course. Rolled top edge is goatskin. All stitching is by hand with Irish 4-ply waxed linen thread.
Hope y'all enjoy it. God Bless, Marc
