My latest creation I tried to put together a few ideas to build something a little different. In some areas I somewhat copied an original and in other areas I drifted. Hopefully the end result makes sence. All hand forged mounts of brass, copper and iron {actually mild steel} and a Hickory under rib.

Beautiful rifle. Super clean finish and architecture. Double base front site is a nice touch. Is that a wooden under rib?

STONER, your probably correct and it does seem kind of perverted for guys up here in the N.W. to be building these Southern Mountain Guns. Oh well, I guess no really sane person would be messing with this stuff at all.
KEN, yes the under rib is Hickory and it proved to be a slightly larger challenge than a person would think.

I have no interest in the "sane"world.I have always been crazy to prevent insanity
and I think Waylon Jennings even had a song about the condition.
That is a fine looking rifle and a job to be proud of.

Please let us know how it shoots.

Go down to Florida. Tons and tons of nasty ol' feral hogs. You can hunt them 24 hours a day, no bag limit. Not even sure if you need a hunting license.

Taken care of, the meat is really delicious.

Fiddler, I tried to SOMEWHAT copy the rifle in your posted photos, with some obvious detours. The stock is Sugar Maple,Rice barrel is 45cal x 42" x 15/16", Davis triggers, Chambers lock. LOP is 13 1/2" and weight is 9 1/2#. Maybe a bit heavy, but really hangs well off hand.
