Top lock is the Bailes, bottom is the Kibler. Both are the same length, the Kibler is a bit deeper. Building one now with the Bailes that has Mr. Rollers internals, gonna be hard to find one of those!
I don't know how many of the L&R based Bailes locks I made and have given
brief thought reviving the idea but now think they are too labor intensive so
that won't happen.I made a good number of a very similar lock for a German
shop that made a Boutet copy using them.I got the moulds from TOW in 1978
or 79 and a few years ago gave them to Les Barber and Larry Zornes for their
Mould&Gun Shop.I don't know if they developed anything from them or not.
I used only the external parts on these locks as well as the Durs Egg and the
Ashmore. The last two flintlocks I made were Durs Egg and one had a reenforced
cock and IS one of a kind and delivered them to their buyer at the 2019 CLA
Show in Lexington with double set triggers. At this point in time the only things
I am making are the double set triggers and they are on a limited basis and
may be discontinued at the end of this year as well.
