« on: September 11, 2009, 04:49:33 PM »
This morning's Reading Eagle has an article titled, "The art of gun-making.

Starting Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 and running to the end of the year will be a display of 54 rifles, 2 pistols, gun-making tools and powder horns made in Berks County from 1750 to 1900.

You might want to check the on-line edition of the Reading Eagle for today, the 11th at www.readingeagle.com

The Berks County Historical Society building is not very large.  You should be able to get a good close look at these items.

Musuem hours are: Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission for adults is $4.

After posting my previous message I checked the on-line article on the Reading Eagle web site.  A nice set up!

It was a rainy Saturday in Central PA, so I made the drive over to Reading this morning.  Very nicely done display of longrifles.  The display cabinets are well lit, with mirrors behind.

If you can't make it to the show, be sure to order a copy of the show catalog book.  Reminds me of Merril Lindsay's "The Kentucky Rifle" depicting the rifles from the Kindig show in York.
