Noll rifle
«

I recently completed this Noll rifle for a client in California. The build was quite challenging, with Noll's engraving containing lots of detail. His carving although extensive was not nearly as detailed. The client requested that the gun be finished to look like it had been carried in the field for some time. The patchbox and all the inlays were hand cut. All the silver inlays are sterling silver including the heads of the barrel keys. The rifle is based on a Rice 54 cal. 44' barrel, early Ketland lock w/ Davis DST. The client is hoping to harvest an elk this fall with the rifle...

Gorgeous! I would think that everyone involved in that elk hunt, including the elk would be required to wear white gloves.

Lucky R A,
I love Noll's engraving and architecture but I feel the same the his carving doesn't quiet match up to his engraving ability. Beautiful rifle.

Ron, top shelf work as always. But, I can't resist: is this a take down barrel in order to get the max out there at 44 feet?

Hey, Truman, Nice to hear from you. I am not quite sure what you are referencing, but it probably is something I did while we were both wearing the gray...

Beautiful work!
If you need more "carried in the field look", there is another shop in Iowa that can add those characteristics.

Ron, great rifle! Your work on it is top-notch, especially the engraving.
I, too, was wondering WHY the barrel is 44' long. Must be an optical illusion, as it sure doesn't look quite that long.

Thanks Ron,
Sure do remember you. The work you did on your rifle is super top notch---You should post some photos. You are way to humble, you are a great craftsman.
