Looks like walnut to me.

Maybe a light colored Walnut. Regardless, it looks like it will be a very nice rifle when you get through. Thanks for sharing.

Stock is from a walnut blank. It will be a lot darker when the finish hits it.

Some walnut can run lighter in shade.  Or it could be Butternut, which has the nickname of “white walnut”.  It’s not really that light, just lighter than normal walnut. They are very similar looking trees (and nuts) with similar properties, other than the shade of the wood , and Butternut being a little less hard on average. It is often sold unknowingly as walnut.  Nice work on the gun.

Very nice work! I especially like the horse head. Who would have thought that a few lines would make such a simple but beautiful image. I always overthink things. I probably would have tried to use a lot of shading lines and messed it up.
