Who made this rifle?
« on: August 10, 2021, 04:37:14 AM »

Picture taken at the Princeton Long Rifle Show, August, 2021.

Not to change the subject, out of curoisty who made the bottom rifle in the picture above?   I have a rifle with similar patchbox hanging on my wall.  Actually that is a pretty common patchbox design Ohio, WV & maybe  even VA.  Thanks for sharing the NC rifles.

The patchbox with "Q finial" shows up frequently in Chambersburg-Shippensburg area and Bedford County.  I was looking at the bottom rifle myself, and debating.  I would expect to see double set triggers on a Bedford gun.  I'm ignoring the lock, and looking at the buttplate and trigger guard and thinking "Cumberland Valley", but could even be Peter White (Emmitsburg, Beford, and Uniontown).

I own the bottom rifle and can supply pictures if interested. It's not signed and I have no idea where or who made it but would be interested in knowing your opinions. Let me know what areas you want to see and I will post them.

Pictures of the off side of the rifle including the sideplate, cheekpiece, and carving might help.  Likewise, toe plate, trigger guard, and forend.

Don't want to highjack this thread so I'll start another one.
